SUSTAINABILITY

RESPONSIBILITY

Courage in taking responsibility”, as stated in our mission statement, “We assume responsibility for our actions”. Our actions have consequences, partly intentional, partly unintentional. Just as we want to have a positive impact on our customers with the quality of our craftsmanship, at the same time we also pursue the goal of avoiding negative consequences for people and the environment. What these effects are, whether positive or negative, is not always apparent at first glance. Instead of resorting to actionism, we are endeavouring to make the adjustments that really make a difference. We are currently conducting careful analyses to identify the levers in our sphere of influence that will have the greatest impact. As a first, very effective step, our two sites in Lüdinghausen and Haidlfing will be supplied with 100% green electricity from 01/01/2025 – reducing our CO2 footprint by around 60% compared to the reference year 2023.

Especially when it comes to decisions, such as the new construction or renovation of buildings that will set the direction for many years, we scrutinise them critically from a sustainability perspective. Our goal is to shape our common future in such a way that we as a company (and as its employees) only have the least possible impact on people and the environment and instead promote them.

ENVIRONMENT

At VEDDER, we are convinced that a willingness to think in a solution-oriented way also makes it possible to act sustainably in the superyacht industry. With the goal of continuously reducing our CO2 footprint, we are working on production processes and energy systems. As is often the case, the first and most effective adjustment levers are energy efficiency and green electricity.

In the new construction of our Lüdinghausen site, special emphasis will be placed on ecological sustainability: the construction is to be strongly focussed on sustainability. We are aiming for a corresponding DGNB certification, backed by a holistic energy concept of sustainable electricity and heat generation and – storage, the use of sustainable materials and the integration of the building into the surrounding nature.

PEOPLE

"Our employees are our greatest asset". At VEDDER, this is not just an empty phrase, but a lived practice. We strive to create a safe, supportive work environment, in which we feel comfortable. We lay the foundation for this with our focus on occupational safety and an open communication culture. A flexitime scheme for all our employees and occupational health management, with a focus on sport and vitality, are driving this idea forward.

Our working climate is characterised by mindful, appreciative interaction with each other, lived by all hierarchical levels and trades. Our mission statement is central to this. In it, we have set out what constitutes the "VEDDER DNA" – a central part of which is how we treat each other. "We talk to each other and not about each other". We constantly measure ourselves against these values, whether as part of every employee interview or when resolving conflict situations.

LOOKING TO THE FUTURE

We are still at the beginning of our journey. The decision for a strong focus on sustainable action has been made and now it’s time to implement it. Starting with in-depth analyses to identify the right adjustment levers, we focus on healthy, “sustainable” transformation instead of planting trees. Step by step, we will reduce our CO2 footprint and thus live up to our responsibility. We don't say without reason: VEDDER is the future.
